Non-commercial movement of pets
The non-commercial movement of companion animals is regulated by the Sanitary and Veterinary Norm, approved by Government Decree 660/2022. Upon entry into the Republic of Moldova, the owner or authorized person contacts the veterinarian present at the border entry point for the purpose of carrying out the control.
Animal owners in the Republic of Moldova can obtain the Certificate for the Non-Commercial Movement of Pets by submitting an online application, directly from the phone, from the application EVO, the Public Services module or on Public Services Portal.
For movement between EU countries or from third countries, rabies vaccination, documented in the pet passport or animal health certificate, is the only requirement for dogs, cats and ferrets to travel across EU borders, with certain exceptions.
For details, you can consult the Guide on the Movement of Companion Animals and the website ansa.gov.md.
