Travel Agency Glossary informs individuals who intend to cross the customs border with currency that, upon entry into or exit from the Republic of Moldova, they are required to comply with legal requirements regarding the declaration of foreign exchange values.
- What does the declaration of currency values entail?
The individual declares the transported foreign currency values using the foreign currency declaration form, when the total amount thereof (cash, namely banknotes and coins (other than those containing precious metals), securities and payment instruments denominated in national currency and foreign currency) starts from 10,000 euros (or equivalent) per person/trip.
- When and where is the declaration of foreign currency values submitted?
The completed and signed declaration of foreign currency values, with the transported foreign currency values, is presented for customs control, when crossing the customs border, through the border customs post, both upon entry into the Republic of Moldova and upon exit from the Republic of Moldova. - When must the declaration of foreign currency values be completed? The form must be completed when crossing the customs border, both upon entering the Republic of Moldova and upon leaving the country.
- The choice of customs corridor must be made accordingly:
- The green corridor – can only be selected if the person does not have any goods or valuables subject to declaration;
- The red aisle – must be selected if the person is transporting currency, goods or other values that must be declared, according to the legislation.
- People –I am BOUND to declare in writing, if the total amount is worth 10,000 euros (or their equivalent) or more per person/trip, based on the Declaration of Currency Values.
- People-I am in law to declare in writing, if the total amount is less than 10,000 euros (or their equivalent) per person/trip, based on the traveler's Customs Declaration.
IMPORTANT!
It is not allowed to bring into/out of the Republic of Moldova cash in national currency, as well as cash and traveler's checks in foreign currency in unaccompanied baggage by an individual.
