Starting with 2026, Moldova will introduce holiday tickets for employees, intended exclusively for use in rural tourist accommodation units. These will be issued by the employer, optionally, in electronic or paper format, and will be able to cover accommodation costs and tourist services, with a value of up to 8,000 lei per year.
How it works?!:
- Eligibility: The vouchers will be offered to employees, initially starting with the private sector, with the possibility of expanding to the public sector later.
- Value: The maximum annual value is 8,000 lei, the equivalent of approximately half of the average monthly salary in the economy.
- Use: The vouchers can initially only be used for accommodation and tourist services in guesthouses and rural tourist structures in the Republic of Moldova.
- Taxation: The amount offered in the form of vacation vouchers (at the moment) will not be subject to taxes, similar to meal vouchers.
- Scope: The measure aims to stimulate domestic tourism, support small entrepreneurs in rural areas, and motivate employees.
- Emission: Tickets may be issued by an authorized operator, and the exact mode of operation will be established by government regulation.
- Permissibility: Employers will decide whether to grant vacation vouchers to employees.
- Format: They can be issued in the form of cards, tickets or in electronic format.
- Validity: Tickets will be valid for one year from the date of issue.
